The use of single-use packaging for food and drinks is increasing every year. In 2022 alone, around 2 billion disposable cups and containers were used in Sweden, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. A staggering 40% of global plastic production goes into making single-use packaging, and it ranks among the top ten most common litter items in our oceans. It is also a major local issue, causing littering in nature, parks, and other public spaces.

To combat the growing use of single-use plastics, the EU adopted the Single-Use Plastics Directive in 2019, which led to new legislation in Sweden starting from January 1, 2024. This legislation requires all food and drink sellers using single-use packaging to offer their customers reusable options as part of a circular system.

Panter was founded from a genuine desire to solve the societal problem of single-use packaging. Our goal is to make reusables at least as convenient, appealing, and cost-effective for takeaway as disposables, both for you as a guest and for the restaurant or café and its staff. Thank you for being part of the transition!
